NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is urging people to stay at home this New Year's Eve, with outdoor gatherings across Greater Sydney reduced from 100 to 50 people.
However, restrictions on the northern beaches will again be temporarily eased, as occurred over Christmas.
On New Year s Eve and New Year s Day, residents of the northern part of the northern beaches will be allowed to have up to five visitors at their homes, as well as outdoors. South of Narrabeen Bridge, residents will be allowed 10 visitors either in their homes or at a gathering outside. Unlike Christmas, those 10 people include children and it also means they have to be from your zone, from the southern part of the northern beaches, the Premier said. We don t want people moving in and out of the area for the next few days. We want to keep the area separate to make sure that any untraced chains of community transmission have actually been clamped down.

NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian has reported seven new cases of local transmission of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, six linked to the northern beaches after 24,000 tests were undertaken on Boxing Day.
Six of the cases are linked to the Avalon cluster and the seventh case relates to a northern beaches fire fighter who visited the Belrose Hotel on December 11.
