Making these fires among the deadliest in history. More than 300 square miles have burned. Six times the size of San Francisco. The Property Damage is occurring. 3500 homes and businesses destroyed. Most of them in santa rosa. 25,000 people who have been evacuated. 400 people are still missing. Sonoma county sheriff said the rescue efforts have become a search for remains in the disaster zone. Identification is going to be hard. So far in the recovery we have found bodies that were almost completely intact. We have found bodies that were nothing more than ash and bones. Is healthy cal fire map looks in the northbay. Two fires along the Sonoma Sonoma and napa county line have merged into one. The tubs fire from calistoga to santa rosa is still 10 contained. It has scorch more than 34,000 acres. The atlas fire spanning napa and solano counties is burned more than 43,000 acres. It is only 3 contained. Live coverage. In Higher Elevations. For about 10 hours they should have pretty good conditions. The wind advisory starts at 11 pm. That will be a northerly breeze off shore. Not like we had on sunday and monday. That was a unique situation. 30s f350s for the temperatures. Humidity is higher. These are cooler temperatures and i think they will continue to cool. The breezes off shore. Not that strong toward the north. There is that northeast at atlas peak. 57 degrees. Napa has a east wind. 40s and 50s on these temperatures. There is that system. Once that comes down, that will pick up the breeze tonight. Good morning. Traffic is doing pretty well if you are driving on many of these roads. Highway 37 is open and so is highway 101. There are closures near the fire zone in santa rosa of the off ramps. We do have some roads that are closed. Highway 128 into and out of calistoga and highway 128 near Lake Berryessa and parts of highway 121. Parts of highway 12 have reopened. There hasnt been much of a commu
Some people cautiously optimistic. This morning when we woke up and saw smoke again it was a little nerveracking but they are on it. We feel better. This mother said she is ready to evacuated. Her car is packed. Some people who live in the area where the atlas fire first started on sunday night are being allowed back into their neighborhoods. Mandatory Evacuation Orders have been lifted for areas near the silverado country club. We spoke with one person as he went home last night. He said hes grateful his home on burningtree court narrowly avoided the fire. I think you are more empathetic when you almost experienced it yourself. You know what it felt like. I may have lost everything that i own and im homeless. Thats pretty devastating. Authorities lifted Evacuation Orders for the areas around Monticello Park and the avenues. We saw a lot of water drops yesterday. It was nice to see the containment percentage was up. Not a lot but it was up. We do have better firefighting conditions. It
They are not out of the woods but the effort continues and will continue for the next week or so. The largest fire in Sonoma County is the tubbs fire. It has burned nearly 35,000 acres and containment is at 10 . Another fire near highway 29 and yountville continues to grow. Some of the top areas of concern are mount veeder and dry creek. Many people have left that area but people who are there have been told to be ready to evacuate. This is the largest fire weve seen. Who knows what it will do. Our house is on the edge of it. We are prepared to evacuate. I am a little on edge. We have basically everything packed up, lined up in the hallway ready to go. Weve had to begin fire activity on mount veeder for the last couple of days. Its working down to dry creek where there are numerous houses and we are attempting to get engines on there to protect them. Flare ups and blowing embers continue to be a risk throughout the area.
