10. “The Haunting” at Astor Place Plaza, New York
To mark the one-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death, students, faculty, and alumni of NYU Tisch School of the Arts will present immersive public art installation combining film, theater, photography, dance, costume design, set design, and music in front of the Astor Place Cube. The piece, conceived in collaboration with For Freedoms, incorporates Day of the Dead skull iconography and will be followed by a candlelight vigil. The organizers hope the performance will serve as a ritual that will not only help keep Floyd’s memory alive, but will continue the conversation about the need for justice and reform.
Brazzaville, 03 March 2021 (ECA) - The African labour market is marked by skills mismatch, especially in the informal sector. One out of every three working-age persons in Africa lacks the necessary skills to secure a decent job or achieve high productivity.
To address that challenge, a call to build the capacity of higher learning and technical schools as institutions that must be leading in science, technology and innovation was made at the ongoing seventh session of the African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) which is being held from March 1 to 4, in Brazzaville (Congo).
Ms Christina Duarte, Special Adviser on Africa to UN Secretary‑General said that science and technology is an enabler that has proved efficient in turning the COVID-19 disruptions into opportunities and to strengthen the human capital.
The Johnson County Healthcare Center updated the media on their status concerning the COVID-19 virus during the EOC Briefing Tuesday.
JCHC CEO Sean McCallister said the hospital has nine inpatients, none of which are COVID-positive, and they have no staff members currently out with the virus or because of quarantine.
They have begun administering second doses of the vaccine for staff, and next week they will be giving second doses in the nursing home and assisting Public Health to give second doses to other long-term care facilities.
McCallister said that there currently is no mandate for staff to get the COVID vaccine and explained why.
Public Health’s Robin King and Johnson County Healthcare Center’s Christina Duarte spoke about the issue.
King said the Moderna vaccine should be here this week, and they expect to begin vaccinations for healthcare providers next week.
Because of the scheduled deliveries of the vaccine and the numbers associated with the various tiered priority groups she expects to move through them fairly quickly once vaccinations begin.
King reported 34 total cases of COVID-19 in Johnson County last week.
Duarte said the current census in the hospital is six, four of which are COVID-positive patients from the veterans’ home.
Residents of the Amie Holt Care Center were able to come out isolation in their rooms and begin having visitors, although they are seeing them outside at this point.
