NFL Rumors: Allen Robinson Could Still Be Traded After Chicago Bears Tag Receiver
03/09/21 AT 4:07 PM
Allen Robinson won’t become a free agent after being hit with the franchise tag by the Chicago Bears. That doesn’t necessarily mean the wide receiver will return to the Windy City for the 2021 season.
Robinson is a potential trade candidate since the two sides have not agreed to a new contract. The 27-year-old has made it clear that he wants a long-term deal, and he indicated to NFL reporter Tyler Dunne in February that being tagged could result in him asking for a trade.
If you’re willing and able to compartmentalize things, then perhaps you’ll come to accept what I have when it comes to the offseason signing of Jimmy Graham.
When you put everything into consideration, you’ll be forced to agree that the much-maligned Jimmy Graham signing has, indeed, paid off. It’s not a conclusion I was expecting to write about at any point this season. Heck, I didn’t even envision Graham as a fit when the Packers cut him loose and the Bears had a need at the position. But a funny thing happened along the way. A funny thing called playing the game on the field.
It’s the last Monday of 2020. Positive vibes are the only thing I’m asking for today. That means I’m not diving too deep into Mitchell Trubisky’s inexcusable red-zone interception. Or that overthrow of Cole Kmet down the sideline that should’ve been an easy touchdown. I won’t even dwell on how the Bears defense was credited with only one sack and three quarterback hits on Mike Glennon.
I’m all about positive energy to start today, so let’s get after it.
• “
People never get the flowers while they can still smell ‘em” is one of my favorite Kanye West one-liners ever. And with that on my mind, I’d like to give the Bears offense its flowers:
I’ll admit I’m typing this through gritted teeth, but the Vikings passing game presents a tough matchup for the Bears defense.
This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone who saw Bears-Vikings in Week 10, when Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen carved up Chicago’s secondary. I figure the Bears will be out for payback when they suit up on Sunday in Minnesota. However, which cornerbacks will be available is a bit up-in-the-air at the moment.
We’ll need to watch this week’s injury report:
Jaylon Johnson (right shoulder) is considered day-to-day, Matt Nagy said. Buster Skrine remains in the concussion protocol. The Bears will take the practice field this evening.

• Terry Bradshaw said he watched “some of the worst” “boringest” offense he’s ever seen … and he wasn’t talking about the Bears:

• The Patriots’ receiving corps is whack, so I’ll give you that. But an offense led by Cam Newton and orchestrated by Josh McDaniels shouldn’t look like this. Admittedly, I’m not totally up with what’s going down in New England, but this year has been quite the disappointment for a great many reasons. Ah, well … tough break. There’s no rest for the weary and no pity for a dynasty at the end of its rope.
