Were seeing a lot of smoke but were not seeing a lot of flames like we were earlier. Were right off of knoll drive. Were seeing some calfire doing some defensive work. Were seeing a lot of smoke up on that ridge now on the other side of the ridge thats highway interstate 80. So again, we are still seeing a lot of air support come out this way. But we do have boots on the ground now here over at this neighborhood here and around knoll drive again. 200 homes were given an evacuation advisory. The fire is now up to 150 acres. Its being called the american fire. Earlier we spoke with a City Council Member who seeing the flames in his backyard. I think were still a little scared from the napa fire. The fires are still scary. Pretty tough. We did a voluntary advisory evacuation. And i was advising my neighbors to please evacuat
Contained. It broke out about 3 15 this afternoon off American Canyon road near highway 80. People who lived nearby were asked to evacuate, but that advisory has been lifted. Ktvus andre senior is in American Canyon tonight with an update on the efforts to put out the fire. The smell of smoke is very potent in the area, but the good news is for firefighters the winds that caused this fire to explode to hundreds of acres earlier today have since died down. Any other sunday evening this would be consideredcture perfect sunset in American Canyon, but there was no time to admire the beauty because as the lights started to sl disappear, there was an earnest effort to stop the spread of a wildfire burning nearby. I can tell you right now there are still a few hot spots out there, but for the most part most of the equipment brought in this afternoon to fight this fire has already been packed up and has already driven off. Many of cal fires rigs have been packed up and directed back to their stations tonight. This fire has been largely snuffed out, but at its height it was fast moving and dpru gre 526 acres. You can see the long line of flames as they inch towards home. This fire drived in the open space, a popular recreational area. People could see the massive plume of smoke all over the bay area. I saw it all over richmond and i was coming out here i was like uhoh, it must be close to my home. That was scary and then last year was the paradise fire and brought back a lot of bad memories, so scary to have it so close to home but looks like its getting contained tonight.
