the senior deputy to the sheriff himself, and the reason he s taking them off patrol is we re going to go through an entire inquiry what did you see? when did you see it? what did you do? what did you not do, and they re not going to be back on patrol until he s comfortable with the answer chief ramsey, if we can expand this a little bit now to suspended sheriffs deputies the five officers charged among other things, former officers charged with murder, two i think ems on some kind of leave here, as you have now seen the video, how much bigger do you think this web will extend the next few days? there are a lot of other people, law enforcement in this video. well, i don t know how much how far it s going to extend in terms of criminal charges, but certainly administrative charges for failing to take any action. and i do believe that will be next phase internally within the police department. you know, you have to watch that video several times, every time i see it, one, it seems
i mean, there were there was a significant amount of time between when the murders occurred and and they catch him in pennsylvania. did that kind of research also help him? there s statements or report begun what he may have said at the moment of his arrest which may have been relevant of his knowledge of how the criminal justice system works. the one thing we don t know is whether he knew any of the individuals in the home or whether it was random in the sense that he staked out a house where there was activity. maybe the door was unlocked. the girls were young and he was watching them. that question of why this house, why those victims, that s going to be what we re all looking for in terms of what we re going to find out this week. and whether it was premeditated or not. chief ramsey, we heard from one of the students, a teachers
kohberger. first our law enforcement analysts join us. welcome to both of you. let begin with the kohberger arrest there. chief ramsey, as we said, he s expected to waive extradition tomorrow. what can we expect when the probable cause affidavit will be unsealed once he returns to idaho? well, you re going to get a lot of information as to how they zeroed in on him. we ve already heard that dna played a huge role. information from the public, you know, about the white house vehicle. there s a lot of information that we have, but there s an awful lot of information that we don t have so you re going to learn a lot more about the actual investigative steps taken to ruly zero in on him. the police department and all those law enforcement agencies did a very, very good job in my opinion. this is not an easy case. it s very complicated, but they were able to bring it in, and
facts of this investigation. it will not be unsealed until after his first court appearance in that state. gjean casarez, thank you. perspective now from retired fbi special agent and charles ram see, a former philadelphia police commissioner and chief of police in washington, d.c., and lawrence kobe lynn ski, forensic scientist at john j. college of criminal justice. chief ramsey, i want to start with you. a law enforcement source told me tonight that at some point during the suspect s cross country drive that law enforcement started tracking him. and they were able to really zero in on him around christmas whrks he arrived at his parents house in pennsylvania. i m told that law enforcement was also surveilling his parents house. it was a combination of dna evidence and the car that led to the suspect being identified. tell us a little bit more about how a law enforcement operation on this scale comes together. well, i tell you, you know,
