Eanes school board calls May election, gears up for budget talks The Eanes school board voted Tuesday night to schedule an election on May 1 for Place 4 and 5 trustee seats. Candidates can file to run through Feb. 12.  The board also voted to formally approve the district’s legislative priorities for this year, which had been discussed at a previous meeting. These included reducing the burden of recapture on local communities and pushing the state to hold districts harmless for funding losses during the pandemic.  Other goals included taxpayer advocacy, ensuring that traditional public schools receive full funding rather than see that funding diverted to charter schools and voucher programs, and an opposition to the A-F rating system based only on STAAR test results.

The pet and livestock pharmaceuticals company stated it initially intended to publish the results for its financial year ended March 31, 2020 before December 31, noting that while the audit progress on its accounts has been good , continuing difficulties associated with remotely auditing its International operations and the need to audit prior year adjustments amid Covid-19 restrictions has added substantial logistical challenges.

Eanes school district more students on campus, budget deficits

The Eanes school district is projecting another bump to 68% in-person enrollment when the spring semester starts on Jan. 5, according to a presentation to the school board Tuesday night.  Bridge Point Elementary School will have the highest percentage of students on campus at 84%, closely followed by Cedar Creek with 82%. Westlake High School had the fewest students select in-person learning, with 55% of students planning to return to campus come January. The rest of the campus es in the district range from 62% to 77% of students on campus.  At the start of the current grading period on Oct. 19, 61% of district students selected in-person learning compared to remote. In late September, that number was 52%.
