Eanes school board calls May election, gears up for budget talks
The Eanes school board voted Tuesday night to schedule an election on May 1 for Place 4 and 5 trustee seats. Candidates can file to run through Feb. 12.
The board also voted to formally approve the district’s legislative priorities for this year, which had been discussed at a previous meeting. These included reducing the burden of recapture on local communities and pushing the state to hold districts harmless for funding losses during the pandemic.
Other goals included taxpayer advocacy, ensuring that traditional public schools receive full funding rather than see that funding diverted to charter schools and voucher programs, and an opposition to the A-F rating system based only on STAAR test results.
