The Pleasant Valley volleyball team came out strong and aggressive early in its match against Chico High School on Thursday, looking to avenge its football team's shutout loss to the Panthers in Almond Bowl 52. On senior night for the PV and the final regular season match for both teams, the Vikings leaned on their seniors en route to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-19) victory on their home court of Varley Gym at PV.
Brothers for life, teammates growing up and now opponents. Dion Coleman is a running back and safety for Chico High School, and Demetrius Norwood is a wide receiver and defensive back for Pleasant Valley High School. The two spent time training together growing up, spent time the past two years at Chico High School as teammates, and after Norwood transferred to PV ahead of his junior season, Coleman and Norwood will now face off on opposing sidelines in Almond Bowl 52 Friday night at Pleasant Valley High School.
The brother-sister duo of Dillan Perry and Marina Perry helped lead the Chico High boys and girls swim team to a victory against Pleasant Valley in this year's Fish Bowl, held at Bidwell Junior High School. Both teams now prepare for the Northern Section Division I swim championships which will be held Oct. 25 at Shasta High School, before the Master's meet on Oct. 28 in Redding.
