The security forces that were ambushed by Maoist guerrillas in Chhattisgarh on Saturday were acting on what is now being viewed as faulty intelligence. They had received inputs about the presence of two of their top leaders Madvi Hidma, the People s Liberation Guerrilla Army s (PLGA) battalion number 1 commander, and Sujatha, an associate in the Jagargunda-Jonaguda-Tarrem belt. It turned out to be a trap, sources now say.
Congress attacks Home Minister Amit Shah for continuing to address election campaigns

Last Saturday, security forces, who were involved in anti-naxal combing operations in Chhattisgarh, came under heavy attack from the naxals that resulted in the death of 22 security personnel and injured, at least, another 30 of them. No Indian jawan should face an enemy without body armour in the 21st century. It needs to be made available to every soldier, Mr Gandhi he said in a tweet.

Strengthening of intelligence apparatus yields results against LWEs, says Odisha DGP As the loss of 22 security personnel in an attack by Naxals in Chhattisgarh rocked the country, Odisha police on Monday reiterated their resolve to strengthen the network for seamless flow of intelligence inputs to fight the rebels.
The Odisha police in close coordination with paramilitary forces have stepped up their vigil on border areas to prevent extremists slipping into State in the wake of Chhattisgarh attack.
Odisha’s vulnerability to Left Wing Extremism (LWE) continues to be a cause of concern because of its proximity to Chhattisgarh’s LWE-affected districts such as Sukma, Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada and Narayanpur. The region comprising of Chhattisgarh’s five districts and Odisha’s Malkangiri district is known as the country’s LWE hotspot.
