Seven Naxalites, including two women, were killed in an encounter with security personnel in a forest along the borders of Narayanpur and Kanker districts in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, police said.
Naxal Attack in Chhattisgarh: In an attack by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh s Narayanpur district, a Chhattisgarh Armed Force jawan from the 9th battalion was killed, and another sustained minor injuries. The security personnel, engaged in an operation, faced an improvised explosive device (IED) blast and gunfire, resulting in an encounter.
Dantewada blast: Safely detonated from 200-300 metres, command or wired IED is the Naxals’ most common attack strategy, one that has been replicated by terrorists in Kashmir as well. The foxhole mechanism of burying the explosives makes them near undetectable, as in the case of the recent Dantewada blast
Sources say the April 18 attack on Congress MLA Vikram Mandavi set in motion events that culminated in Wednesday’s attack, in which an IED set off by the Naxals killed 10 police personnel and a civilian driver in Dantewada district. The attackers had local help, add sources
