Ranchi: The first senate meeting of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) on Wednesday witnessed unruly scenes after students resorted to protests to demand their inclusion in the proceedings. Later, after the local administration intervened, the protestors were allowed.
Governor Droupadi Murmu, who was expected to attend the meeting, had to change her schedule in the wake of agitation and later, she addressed the senate online from the Raj Bhavan.
Earlier in the day, members of the DSPMU Chhatra Sangh gheraoed vice-chancellor S N Munda and shouted slogans in support of their demand. Union leader Amandeep Munda said they had earlier requested the V-C to include them in the proceedings, but they were not paid heed to.
