Covid killed young doc who died in quarantine, govt told | Chennai News

Chennai: Three months after Dr N Logesh Kumar, a 24-year-old postgraduate student of Madras Medical College, died in a hotel room where he had quarantined himself after Covid-19 duty, the directorate of medical education has declared that forensic, histopathology and radiology reports indicate that he had died due to Covid-19. The directorate, which is in charge of administering all government medical colleges, sent a formal report to the government to record Covid as the cause of his death and process applications to get ex gratia for his family. Logesh Kumar was taken to Government Royapettah Hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’. Police said they suspected suicide or food poisoning and his body was sent to the mortuary for postmortem. The postmortem was completed yet, until Friday, the cause of death was not disclosed. Chennai: Cops dump seized vehicles on T Nagar footpath | Chennai News

Seized vehicles dumped CHENNAI: The Pondy Bazaar police’s traffic investigation wing has dumped vehicles seized in accident cases on a pavement and encroached the parking lot opposite Panagal Park in T Nagar. Damaged vehicles have been dumped in a heap and those intact are parked outside the police station on parking space meant for public use. The commissioner of police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal has instructed officers to keep police station premises clean. He has asked deputy commissioners to visit each police station once a month for inspection. Even then, confiscated vehicles and damaged barricades have been dumped outside inconveniencing the public.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hands over the Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1A) to the Army CHENNAI: Just ahead of the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated some completed projects, including phase-1 extension of Chennai Metro Rail, and laid foundation stones for some others. He handed over the indigenously designed, developed and manufactured Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1 A) to the Army. The projects of the state and central governments, aimed at taking Tamil Nadu to a higher growth trajectory, were launched at a packed Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Flanked by chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, Modi commissioned the passenger services of Chennai Metro Rail between Washermenpet and Wimco Nagar. The phase-1 extension of the metro rail, costing Rs 3,770 crore, covers a distance of 9.05km, linking North Chennai with the Airport and Central railway station.
