TMC Distances Itself From Goli Maaro Slogan Raised in Party Meeting

Kolkata: A day after a few TMC supporters chanted the slogan ‘Bangal ke gaddaro ko, goli maro saalo ko’ (shoot the traitors of Bengal) during a rally here, the ruling party in Bengal on Wednesday distanced itself from the rhetoric, and rebuked the activists who raised it.
Describing the slogan as “excessive exuberance” on the part of some young supporters, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh stated that the party does not endorse it.

Clashes broke out between workers of the ruling TMC and the BJP in several areas of East Midnapore district of Bengal ahead of Suvendu Adhikari’s rally in Khejuri on Tuesday.
The BJP workers claimed that they were attacked by TMC supporters when they were on their way to Suvendu Adhikari’s rally. The BJP workers also claimed that crude bombs were hurled at them and several of them were injured.
KOLKATA: The BJP on Monday said the Trinamool Congress is fearing that the ground beneath its feet is fast slipping away which is why chief minister Mamata Banerjee has suddenly announced that she will contest the upcoming assembly poll from Nandigram.
Nandigram in Purba Medinipur district had witnessed massive public protest against forcible land acquisition by the then Left Front government, for creation of a special economic zone, that propelled her to power in 2011. It appears that chief minister Mamata Banerjee has sensed defeat in Bhawanipore. She has therefore suddenly announced hat she will contest from Nandigram. But she will be defeated there as well. The TMC will be defeated everywhere, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said.

KOLKATA: Tension prevailed in south Kolkata on Monday evening after unidentified miscreants, carrying TMC flags, hurled bricks and stones at BJP activists when they were conducting a mega roadshow near Rashbehari Avenue and Charu Market area.
The roadshow, which commenced at Tollygunge tram depot, was set to culminate at Rashbehari Avenue often referred to as the backyard of chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
