airports, as people scramble to make sure they get to where they need to go for the holidays. and the government avoids a holiday shutdown after the house passes a $1 trillion spending bill and sends it to the president s desk for his signature. good afternoon, i am ryan yamamoto come in for reed cowan today. there s one story on top of everyone s mind, winter storms battering the country, and the impact it s having on millions of americans and their holiday plans this weekend. from coast to coast, the multiple winter storms, now causing cancellations and delays at airports, nationwide, from new york to chicago and seattle. it s impossible to escape the impacts of these winter storms . even though we are not getting hit by these storms directly, travel issues are rippling to the bay area airports locally. 173 flights have been canceled, 319 delayed. our own jocelyn moran has been talking to travelers at sfo on how they are coping with the stress during these holiday travel
alone seeing a 14% jump from last year. more than 4100 flights nationwide have been canceled. so far today, that is more than 10% of all flights happening today. that s according to flightaware.com. and the majority of those are coming from new york s laguardia, chicago s o hare, and, seattle tacoma. the reason so many are coming out are not coming out of seattle is the fact that one runway is just open there as the airport works to deice the others. and of course, even though we are not getting hit directly by the storms, the issues across the country are rippling out to the bay area as well. as we take a live look at all three of our airports, 173 flights locally have been canceled. and 319 have been delayed. ouch. let s go ahead and take a live look now at the crowds inside of sfo. actually, that doesn t look too bad right now. i have seen much worse at this hour. two days before christmas. but i m sure it is going to get much more congested there as the day goes on. our
