why wall street says the company s bottom line is suffering right now. good afternoon, i am elizabeth cook, in for reed cowan. we start with travel mess hitting parts of the country as americans travel to their destinations for the holidays. we are keeping our eyes on sfo and other airports . our weather is mild, but other airports may have to deal with a trickle-down effect of cancellations and delays elsewhere. places, like denver and chicago , are dealing with winter warnings. thousands of flights, already affected this week, and bradley blackburn shows us, people are trying to get out ahead of even worse conditions, if they can. it s a race to the gates at airports across the country. mother nature in hot pursuit. i m a little nervous about getting caught. i think i should make it out. millions of travelers were scrambling to reach destinations, thursday, in what s being called a once in a generation storm. it s my first time flying with the little ones, so it s
there has been no reports of damage or injuries. it is on people s minds after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake in humboldt county. the governor has declared a state of emergency. 14,000 customers remain with power but that is down from 72,000 right after the quake. authorities say two residents died because of medical emergencies. at least 12 others have been injured. the epicenter of the earthquake was just off the coast. there have been roughly 80 aftershocks so far and more are likely in the coming days. now this part of california is no stranger to seismic activity. one year ago the same area was hit by 6.2 magnitude quake. brian explains the science behind these earthquakes. reporter: it was the same thing only bigger in 1992 as a 7.2 rocked anyone anywhere near this prolific site for earthquakes big and small, the triple junction. the mendocino triple junction is actually were three tectonic plates meet. as a result, we have something complicated called fault geometry.
