GUWAHATI/DHAKA: Indian and Bangladeshi security forces are holding a meeting on preventing trans-border crimes and exchanging information between the two border guarding forces, officials said.
The Border Security Force and the Border Guards Bangladesh also discussed the need for sharing information about the activities of illegal arms traders to prevent arms and ammunition smuggling.
Exchange of information on the possible location of armed terrorists and insurgents within the Indian borders and their activities was also discussed on Tuesday, the first day of the 51st round of the Director General level 5-day border coordination meeting between the BGB and the BSF. The five-day director general-level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India will begin in Guwahati of the neighbouring country tomorrow (Tuesday).
BGB Director General (DG) Major General Md Shafeenul Islam will lead an 11-member Bangladesh delegation while BSF DG Rakesh Asthana a 12-man Indian side at the 51st conference.
The Bangladesh delegation also includes representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, and Home and Foreign Affairs ministries.

A five-day long Director General (DG)-level conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will begin in Guwahati on Tuesday (Dec 22).
BGB DG Major General Md Shafeenul Islam will lead a 11-member Bangladesh delegation, including representatives from Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the conference.
On the other hand, BSF DG Rakesh Asthana will lead a 12-member Indian delegation including BSF senior officials, inspector general of different BSF frontiers, representatives from Indian home and foreign ministries.
