The results are in, and the winner of the Battle of the Businesses Food Drive is Avera Medical Group in Spencer. The campaign was launched by Upper Des Moines Opportunity to rally local businesses to help fight hunger in the community. Avera took the crown by contributing 705.1 pounds of food. A crowd of walkers made the streets of Spencer turn pink on Sunday. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Spencer Hospital hosted a Pink Walk. Cancer survivors were recognized and loved ones who had passed on were honored during the ceremony. The Spencer Daybreaker Kiwanis will be hold its 44th annual apple sale this Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon.
