DeLand, FL - The Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) needs the public’s help in finding a missing and possibly endangered DeLand teen and her boyfriend who were last seen early Thursday (June 3). Deputies say 16-year-old Karytza Pena of Cecil Avenue was last seen in the company of her boyfriend, 17-year-old Oscar Ochoa of Lake County, around 10 a.m. on Thursday. Pena is considered endangered after leaving a note indicating thoughts of harming herself. Her family discovered the note Thursday night and notified law enforcement to report her missing. Investigators believe that the pair is traveling in a 2002-2008 red Mazda 6 sedan with Florida tag QME J16 and may be headed to Miami. Pena is described as 5’4 inches tall weighing 140 pounds, with shoulder length dark hair. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants. There are no descriptors of Ochoa. Visalia police are investigating what led to a major injury wreck that left a hole in a home and a citrus truck overturned.
Patrol officers and firefighters were called around 10:30 a.m. Saturday to Houston Avenue, near the Food Maxx shopping center where a motorist sped through a home. The driver went clear through a home on Cecil Avenue, slammed into a wooden fence and collided with a semi-truck carrying oranges on the other side.
The home had recently been remodeled and sold. No one was home at the time and the new owners were set to move in soon.
