The Central government told the Supreme Court that the West Bengal government cannot sue the Central government over cases being lodged and probed by the CBI as the central agency is independent.
The state's Additional Advocate General told this to the Telangana high court during arguments on a petition filed by the BJP seeking a CBI probe into the TRS MLA-poaching case.
All eight states which had previously revoked this consent had been ruled by opposition parties. Meghalaya is ruled by the National People's Party, an ally of BJP.
