enforcement lost patience. we are seeing civil and criminal investigations not just in the u.s. and chile, but other parts around the world. in the u.s. specifically we have learned from pennsylvania attorney general josh shapiro at least 46 a.g.s from around the country contacted his office wanting to learn how he handled the investigation. then, of course, there is the a.g. from illinois saying the catholic church cannot police itself. regardless of what comes out of this meeting a lot of survivors say they ll rely on civil authorities to hold the church accountable. alis alisyn, i know you have interviewed so many survivors. something a survivor told me that stuck with me. some said every time they retell the story they relive the trauma. they want history to be made here so they don t have to

night. one person says to the surprise of everyone there, smollett defiantly stuck to his story of innocence. the star is facing a felony charge for filing a false police report. now this meeting coming just hours after prosecutors laid out a timeline that they say shows smollett orchestrated his own attack. authorities say that he paid two brothers $3,500 to stage an assault in order to advance his own career. chicago s police superintendent was angry and he s calling or smollett to apologize to the city. cnn s ryan young has been covering this story for us since it broke. he joins us live now with the latest. all of these developments it seems like by the hour, ryan. reporter: yeah, every day it plays on like another sitcom and to a certain extent he went to court yesterday, walked out and went to work we re told by fox now his shooting s going to be put on hold. but you can tell the city is ready to punch back. empire actor jussie smollett digging in after being charged
with reporting of fake assault to police. he was dissatisfied with his salary, so he concocted a story about being attacked. reporter: smollett s legal team insisting he maintains his innocence writing in a defiant statement today we witnessed an organized law enforcement spectacle. the presumption of innocence was tram ammed upon. they say he was on the set to film at the empire studio thursday afternoon and called a meeting with cast and crew who are expecting him to come clean. but after apologizing for any embarrassment caused by the incident, the report says smollett asked the show team for their support and insisted that he s innocent. i am not one of those people who have been attacked. the visit coming after chicago police laid out their case against the actor saying smollett paid the ois undarrow brothers to stage the attack and they say police have a copy of
