Greetings from Capps. A few cool days at the start of the week were a real blessing, especially when there is so much heat and severe weather in most of the rest of the country. I m still inclined to believe that God has his hand on this area, now we all just need to agree that He will open it up and give us some showers of rain. Be aware of both utility workers and tree trimmers in the Capps area for the next few weeks and slow down on Highway 392. They came up my driveway this morning. The State Patrol is ramping up speed enforcement in late July also so just as well. Our two Mini-Herefords went back to Huntsville to get rebred, hopefully they ll get it this time. One miscarried over the winter. We have a goat due to kid at the end of the month as well. The Homesteaders Swap Meet will be held today (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to noon at the Capps Mini Storage at 4347 Old Capps Road, then the first and third Saturdays of August. Greetings from Capps. Well, I m officially unemployed, except for my high paying gig with the Harrison Daily Times. (I can hear Terri, my editor, chuckling in the background.) Thanks to all the avid readers who stopped by Diversified to wish me well, and offer employment in several cases! If my buddy, Chris, of Capps, is reading this, know that we re praying for a quick recovery from your back injury. The Capps Batavia Fire Department held their monthly training last Monday night at the Capps Firehouse. We re hoping for another quiet 4th of July weekend so please use wisdom when using fireworks as the conditions are very dry right now. The utility works continues on Highway 392 through Capps so be mindful of workers by the roadside. I ve been hoping to shame the Boone County Road crew into mowing the head-high roadside brush on Creel Road to no avail. Greetings from Capps. Strong storms rolled through the area early Wednesday morning. It was quite a light show and some much needed rain. On a personal note, Diversified Lawn and Garden, where I have worked for the last 5 years, is closing for good on July 31. All plants are 50% off and everything else is 40% off so come on down and see me today or next week at 1925 Capps Road. I m still looking for a well to do older gal to hire me for some light gardening at a large salary so spread the word, lol. The Homesteaders Swap Meet will be held today ( Saturday) from 9am-12 noon at the Capps Mini Storage on Old Capps Road just off Highway 392 West. I d be there with my small round hay bales for sale but I ll be at work. I may have some there with me if you want a few. The Capps Batavia Fire Department has been working hard getting ready for our upcoming ISO certification. Our homeowners insurance rates are based in part on the rating we get so we ve been diligently striving to improve. Enjoy
