HOLYOKE An 18-year-old West Springfield man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on County Road on Sunday night, according to the Holyoke Fire Department and Hampden district attorney’s office.
The driver struck a utility pole in the area between Bluemer Road and Camp Jahn Road, the Holyoke Fire Department said on its Facebook page, and the car was “engulfed in flames” with wires down when Holyoke and Southampton police arrived at the scene at 554 County Road at about 10:30 p.m.
Fire crews extinguished the flames “fairly quickly,” according to the department, but the driver had died in the vehicle. No other people were in the vehicle.
