(WALB) - About 10:30 Monday evening, March 8, the GBI was requested by the Camilla Police Department to assist in a murder investigation that took place in the 100 block of West Circle in Camilla. Camilla Police were called to that address in reference to a shooting. Once there, they discovered a woman had been shot. 100 block West Circle, Camilla (Source: Google Maps) Marquerius Johnson, 27, known to the victim, was taken into custody immediately. Mitchell County Coroner Stedderick Thomas said the victim was 28-year-old Shelby Rhymes.

GBI: Suspected gunman in deadly Camilla shooting arrested by U.S. Marshals Georgia Bureau of Investigation and last updated 2021-02-08 09:09:06-05 CAMILLA, Ga. (WTXL) — After being on the run for nearly four months, a man suspected in a deadly Camilla shooting has been arrested by U.S. Marshals. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of 33-year-old Kentravious Gardner on Monday. He was found and arrested at an address on Sylvan Road in Eastpoint, Georgia on Feb. 4 by the U.S. Marshal’s Office assisted by local law enforcement. He has been returned to the Mitchell County Jail to face his charges.

(WALB) - On Friday, Dec. 18, at about 4 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Camilla Police Department to conduct an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that took place off Bowen Street in Pelham. The GBI said preliminary information indicates that a Camilla police officer conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic for a speeding violation in Camilla. The driver, identified as Jarrett Wheeler, 22, of Pelham, told the officer he did not have a driver’s license on him The officer returned to the car to get some paper to write down the license number and Wheeler’s date of birth to verify his license was valid.
