Councillor Farida Turner, who is a Conservative town and borough councillor in Borehamwood, has taken on the civic role for the second time in her political career. Cllr Turner previously served as town mayor in 2008 and she was sworn in for her latest term, at Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council s annual council meeting on May 4. Accepting the honour, Cllr Turner promised she will do the very best she can to serve the residents in the community.

Vehicle access into Allum Lane by Elstree & Borehamwood train station has been blocked since this morning due to roadworks. Water supplier Affinity Water has been at the scene today carrying out emergency repairs. A photo shows work being carried out on the edge of a mini-roundabout, with no access in or out of Allum Lane between the roundabout and the Asda petrol station. It means buses have been on diversion and drivers have had to find alternative routes to get between Borehamwood and Elstree.

For the last two months, Allum Hall in Borehamwood has been one of several Hertfordshire hosts helping make our communities safe by providing a place for the coronavirus vaccine to be administered. Thousands have passed through the doors of the hall and thanks to an expert team of clinicians, healthcare staff, and volunteers, the vaccination roll-out locally has gone off without a hitch.

Figures published by NHS England show 7,894 people living in the town had at least one of their two jabs by February 21. This includes a little over 3,000 residents aged over 70. The data also shows a further 6,660 residents across Elstree, Radlett, Aldenham, Shenley, and South Mimms have had the first jab. Data suggests around a third of Bushey s population have received at least one jab. A full breakdown across Hertsmere, including by age, can be found further down.

Potters Bar residents are currently directed to Borehamwood for their vaccines, which is less than 10 miles away and has been selected as the GP-led vaccination centre for the whole of Hertsmere.
Allum Hall was chosen because it could safely accommodate patients while maintaining social distancing, vaccine storage and easy access, according to Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group.
GPs across Hertsmere are involved in providing this service and when patients are contacted by their GP practice to book a vaccination their appointments for the first and second dose will be at the Allum Hall site.
