Get helicopters and air tankers above the fire in the next couple of hours to fight the flames. Powerful winds have been a problem in the bay area. And you may have noticed. It happened at my house too. Branches and entire trees falling on cars and houses. Tree Service Companies have been busy removing limbs from roofs. And healthy trees can be knocked out if rain is followed by strong winds. There are no reports of serious injuries. Reporter Governor Brown has said that the fire is quote very dangerous and spreading rapidly, saying that hes put in a state of emergency and hes stressing that residents need to evacuate immediately if ordered to do so. The thomas fire is burning 45,000 acres in los angeles county, the creek fire spreading into the hills of the san fernando valley. The ventura fire started last night near santa paula 60 miles northwest of downtown los angeles. The fire is being propelled by strong santa ana wind gusts. The flames spread quickly. Homes, a hospital, and other buildings in downtown ventura have burned. 27,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes. Crews are still battling the elements as well as the fires.
