"These scholarships will provide students with the greatest need with an opportunity to obtain an industry recognized credential in a high-demand occupation," said County Workforce Development Board Director Andy Stone in a county release. "We encourage everyone who thinks they may be eligible to apply."

At Woodland Community College, according to information from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, in the fall of 2022, there were six teachers of Asian descent, three Latinos, and 26 white instructors. There were no American Indian or Alaskan Natives, Blacks, or Pacific Islander teachers.

The topic for Jan. 26 is Wild Plants & Medicinals; attendees learn about local wild foods, medicinal plants, and edible flowers and depending on availability might be taking some foraged food home with them.
The money will bolster the school's Nourishment and Essential Support Team Resource Center which offers social, emotional, academic and career development services along with access to food, housing, transportation, technology, health and wellness resources.
