when you see that you can get a tornado to spin up as winds tilt. as far as what we are expecting afternoon hours, tuesday. the atmosphere sort of refires, reloads and refires. still the same all of the same ingredients in place. drier air moving out of the deserts. cool air mass in the upper midwest, the northern plains, moving south. deep moisture drawn in. those three come together, we see storms. and energy overhead, we can get the storms to rotate and that can bring the tornado. we are watching the arklatex. for the tornadoes to form. widespread of severe weather all the way to north of chicago. widespread, large hail, damaging winds, likely as we head through the day. jim, this has preliminary been rated as an ef-4. we talk ef-4s, that s devastation. but the winds here were so incredibly strong, any chance it could be upgraded? i think absolutely there s a very strong chance it could be upgraded. i have seen conflicting reports it already has. not sure if that is true or no
with the winds tilting with height, can you spin up a strong super cell. widespread threat for dangerous thunderstorms. not just tornado threat from c arklatex but all the way to the great lakes, large hail, damaging winds, widespread in the storms that do form. jim, let s talk how strong the storms were. verdict not in, ef-4, ef-5? how strong do you think it was? preliminary reports put it at ef-4. important to know when it comes to rating tornados, what the national weather service they will do, go out survey the damage. you can t get a direct wind report in the storm. they are localized, and form and dissipate so quickly as we saw in moore. you take a look at the damage. you see the things knocked down. do you see brick homes knocked down? do you see concrete walls knocked down? you ve seen the pictures. it s hard to imagine anything worse than what we ve seen occur here in moore. so, my guess would be we ll
