because you can use whatever information comes out of that trial in your own. so, in the new york, cases where we have to travel scheduled the civil trial scheduled for october, which is very soon yes. you have the criminal trial scheduled for march yes. they expected they are going to be waiting, because yes. she also named fani willis in that group of prosecutors who would sort of stand down. but fani willis clearly sounds like he is going to take an aggressive position on this in terms of getting this case to trial. nobody knows where the timing is going to be. because that is up to aileen cannon. and ultimately, this decision-making rests with the judges in each of these cases. the prosecutors can kind of whelan deal behind the scenes and try and get cooperation about who is going to go first, and a 4 to 1 another. but ultimately, the judges are the ones that s at the trial dates. and so that sounds like that is sort of an iterative process to, right? they m
said there s no way he could judge the case impartially. he believed he could ve wanted to stay on, it but the higher court intervened and forced his recusal. they removed him from the case with a rich of mandamus. again, very rare for this to happen. we re gonna have to see how hard the prosecution is going to fight for the recusal of judge cannon from this case if at all, and in the meantime she will be very much in control. as the trial judge he will have full destruction over how fast this goes or how slow. it s very much in don trump s favor. most observers agree, to make the trial go as slow as possible. of course if the trial gets pushed until after the 2024 election and trump were to be elected president in the 2024 election, he could just order his justice department to shut the whole case down. judge cannon will rule as long as she is in control of the case she will rule on every motion entered by trump s lawyers, potentially slowing down the proceedings. she will have a fina
sustain calls that judge cannon cannot be seen as a fair judge in his matter and then because of that she should recuse herself. it is basically her call, though. so far she is given no signal that she plans to recuse. what happens next? well, if prosecutors think judge cannon it cannot be impartial and they think she should not oversee this case, there are a few ways they can pursue her recusal. first they can basically just ask nicely. they can write a letter asking her to recuse herself. if that does not work, the prosecution can file a formal motion for recusal with judge cannon, again, though, but it s her call. if she still refuses to step down after the ask nicely, after the formally requested, the prosecution could ask the appeals court, they could ask the circuit court to force her off the case. that would go to the 11th circuit court of appeals, the same court where pam all three judges from that court blasted
moderate candidates for the republican nomination on whether she would pardon trump. we need to see, you know, exactly what happens. but when you look at a pardon, the issue is less about guilt and more about what s good for the country. and i think it would be terrible for the country to have a former president in prison for years because of a documents case. that s something you d see in a third world country. i saw that as the united nations. so i would be inclined in favor of a pardon. republican presidential contender nikki haley saying she would be inclined in favor of a pardon because only in third world countries do people convicted of crimes and sentenced to prison have to go to prison. before nikki haley only marginal candidates polling in the way, way back of the republican pack had committed to or indicated that they might pardon trump, haley is pulling polling it less than 5% so it s not like she s a giant in the field, but at least people have heard of her.
