republican field who have so far shown themselves willing to criticize trump related to this case. last night another one of those republicans from new jersey, governor chris christie, address the issue the televised town hall on cnn. we re in a situation where people in my own party were blaming doj. how about blame him? he did it. he took documents he was supposed to take. he kept them when they asked them back. he got a grand jury subpoena, he refused to comply. they raided his home, finally, because he refused to comply. all the things were brought on himself. chris christie speaking last night. but one other candidate who s running for the republican presidential nomination, who has rebuked trump in similarly blind fashion, is the arkansas governor, is the, former arkansas governor isa hutchinson. this week former governor hutchison responded to a low polling candidates promise that
this case. or will she be replaced? we re going to get to all of that tonight. we re going to begin tonight in miami, where we are joined by msnbc legal analyst analyst lisa reuben, inside the court today for the arraignment. lisa, good to have you here. thanks for being with us. thanks, rachel. let me just ask you about the nuts and bolts of what happened tonight. obviously we all know what an arraignment is where we have had to learn it be able to cover this particular ex presidency. did the magistrate don t clear sat any specific parameters emotion in terms of where the schedule is gonna be like, what s going to happen next, or what we should expect more bride broadly from the trial proceedings? he did and he didn t. this is a magistrate judge right before he left the bench said my involvement in this case ends just about now, knowing that he had made
things down. the first move that the government makes if it is to seek her recusal, she s not going to do anything else. she s not going to get discoveries started, she s not gonna issue protective orders that allow for the process of disclosing information to take place. she s going to sit on that motion however long she wants to sit on it. and to be honest with you, the department of justice already made a calculation when it set decided to bring this case in the southern district of florida instead of the district of columbia. first of all they knew that there was a not low chance that aileen cannon might be assigned this case on the random we ll. they also, they were making this the decision strategically because of venue and to avoid challenges to venue. but i think also everything we have seen the department of justice do so far, i think has really been trying to show the public that they are not putting, not trying to take any advantage, any unfair advantage.
