context of this witness tampering is they were using trump supplied lawyers who were potentially in turn pressuring those agents not to be forthcoming. perjury is a crime including lying under oath in testimony to congress and to the extent that it s going to be helpful to the doj to get witness transcripts, i mean they are free if they want to, to bring in those same agents to testify to the grand jury and if they tell untruthful things to the grand jury or tell contradictory things under oath to two different entities they re on the hook for perjury and a federal prosecution. we re going to talk to one of the police officers who was there on january 6th fighting for his own life and fighting to protect our democracy. he was also there in the room today to hear about these criminal referrals for the former president. capitol police officer harry dunn will join us next. stay with us. threat to the capitol on january 6th. in other words, they knew a mob of trump supporters would be in d.c., that wasn t going to be a first-time thing. they didn t anticipate a directed thousand strong assault on the building housing congress, because they didn t know what trump himself was going to do that day. they did know that trump himself would provoke that to happen. the republican pushback to the january six investigation, to the extent that there has been a pushback at all, has thus far been to say that the whole investigation should focus on trump, it should focus on the terrible police, the terrible national guard, and how terrible it was that the security wasn t better on the capitol. that the security wasn t able to stop the trump mob. well here is the investigators themselves, saying that we looked at that. we think the intelligence agencies were prepared for a normal day of angry pro trump demonstrators. well they weren t prepared for was the president of the united stat
get started with fast speeds and advanced security for $69.99 a month for 12 months. plus ask how to get up to a $750 prepaid card with qualifying internet. on january 6th, the men and women of the d. c. metropolitan police put their bodies on the line. they re on the frontlines putting their lives on the line, to protect the capital no lawmakers inside. it one of those officers who served the capitol, was harry dunn. in july 2021, at the very first public hearing at the january six investigation. officer dunn and three of his colleagues appeared before the committee to describe what they suffered the hands that pro trump crowd, the turn of trying to storm into congress to overthrow the congress. during his testimony, he talked about his ongoing struggles as a result of the attack, he encourages fellow officers to seek help for the trauma they all experienced that day. since, then he has been a fixture in the audience at each of the public hearings of the
defraud the united states, making materially false statements to the federal government, that one, in this case, is about conveying to congress those lists of fake electors from various states that biden won, and the last one, insurrection. we are going to talk in more detail about that last one, insurrection, because it is not every day that somebody gets charged with a crime like that. that is a rare bird in the criminal law, even since january 6th, as we ve seen hundreds of people who participated in the attack on congress brought up on federal charges. you are not seeing them brought up an insurrection. it is notable the investigator zeroed in on that potential crime, which is a ten-year felony if you are convicted of it, as something to which they want to commend federal prosecutors attention, when it comes to the former presidents, specifically. there s a few things to note about these criminal referrals. up top, obviously, the big
