That is love. Now, i want to talk about what excites me so much specifically about the investment in oakland. Young people, we throw around this 8. 7 million. Let me say it in the long form 8,700,000. Okay. Think of a stack of 1 bills. Thats some serious cash. That is just this year. I just want to recognize that since you began partnering with oakland, you have increased your investment every year. [ cheering and applause ]. Since london had a go back in your time machine, youre going to have to indulge me a little bit too. We all can picture in our minds that teacher, that teacher that changed our lives, that teacher who is the reason that we developed the confidence, the vision, maybe the hutspah to be where we are today. What excites me about this years investment from sales force is a new focus on teacher recruitment and retention. [ applause ]. Teachers like ms. Ducatz. She was my Dance Teacher at skyline high school. When i started running for mayor, she would show up at all my
The department did previously with the review back in 1112, the way the department previously did their annual reports where they were much more extensive, but they also took approximately 1824 months to complete. If you look back in history at the departments annual report, technically included data for 1112. It was much longer. So we are looking out for version we are doing now is to find more of a sweet spot in between that has a series of grass and basic data and information and additional narrative and something that is complete within six months of the fiscal year. But doesnt take a major thesis to do. What is the diffidence between what is the difference between a corner and a medical examiner . I am probably not the best one to answer that question. A coroner is under a sheriff, and other jurisdictions in the country. It could be anybody who runs for office and has absolutely no training. The medical Examiner System is set up to bring a level of professionalism to Death Investi
Are trying to get people out of the hall of justice. Can you talk to that . I was just made aware of that fact myself very recently. We are in discussions with the Police Department to see if we can rectify the situation. It is not, unfortunately, uncommon for city departments to take over a vacated space. As soon as one unit moves out, before i can move another unit in, someone will take squat the space. I think this is a different situation. I think we are trying to get everyone out of the building. We see hundreds of millions of dollars and people trying to do that. When it moves in, it is a little concerning because, quite frankly, my next question is, is this Budget Committee going to be expanded to prove approve expenditures to relocate the unit . If i can interrupt, i share that concern and we are in discussions with the Police Department that they will have to sell their space needs elsewhere and we cant, as part of the ho jay exit, absorbed that cost. So they moved into the bu
Today. We used to have was it 40 licensed or 60 licensed sub acute . They were the only one. This conversation is narrowly focused on cpmc sutter. Some of that is decisions far before we as policymakers were here. They were made in the overall city. This is something the department of Public Health and there is a move, i guess, in the last 20 years to get out of the business of subacute care. It doesnt seem to make sense to me. Those patients are not going away. Those patients will need care. What we are saying in our Decision Making is, yes, but someone else is going to take care of them so we are going to send them to sacramento and san jose and to los angeles. To me that just seems it might seem costeffective in terms of just the bottom line, but in terms of just decency and humanity, if that were your Family Member that you wanted to go visit and you live here, how are you going to go visit them . It causes a lot of pain and discomfort for everyone involved in this conversation. I
