It was a night for the defense. The Jefferson City Lady Jays held Boonville to single digits in the first half on their way to a 56-37 victory Monday night against the Lady Pirates at Fleming Fieldhouse.
An 18-point lead had been cut to seven in a four-plus minute span at the end of the second quarter. It wasn’t the happiest of halftime talks. “The pass selection and the shot selection in that stretch was not what we wanted and that was addressed at halftime,” Jefferson City coach Kay Foster said.

It was a loss on the scoreboard, but it was a winning effort for the Jefferson City Lady Jays. “I am so stinking proud of them,” Lady Jays coach Kay Foster said Monday after Jefferson City battled to the end in a 48-42 loss to the Hickman Kewpies in the opening round of the Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Capital City High School.
