Back on Dec. 27, the Helias Lady Crusaders defeated St. Joseph Benton in the first round of the Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Capital City High School. When they meet this afternoon, the stakes, and the gym, will be a lot bigger when Helias (23-7) and Benton (24-5) meet at 4 p.m. in the Class 4 semifinals at Hammons Student Center in Springfield.
It was familiar territory for the Helias Lady Crusaders. The Jefferson City Lady Jays rallied from a seven-point deficit to take a 51-49 lead against the Lady Crusaders in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night’s title game in the Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Capital City High School.
It was a loss on the scoreboard, but it was a winning effort for the Jefferson City Lady Jays. “I am so stinking proud of them,” Lady Jays coach Kay Foster said Monday after Jefferson City battled to the end in a 48-42 loss to the Hickman Kewpies in the opening round of the Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Capital City High School.
It hasn’t been the start to the season the Jefferson City Lady Jays wanted.
But they’re trying not to let it get to them as they prepare for the Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament.
WESTPHALIA The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons pulled out a 50-46 win Tuesday night against Fatima with a thrilling fourth quarter.
The win pushes the Lady Falcons record to 6-4 on the season and is their second straight win against their rival after defeating the Lady Comets in the district title game last season.
