For three quarters, the Helias Crusaders looked ready to upset the Class 5 No. 7 Hogan Prep Rams. Then came the fourth quarter. Helias entered the fourth quarter with a 46-35 advantage, then Jacob Rembecki hit a 3 from the right wing off an Austin Weaver assist to give the Crusaders their biggest lead of the game at 49-35 with 7:42 left to play. Then the Rams began charging. Hogan Prep came all the way back in the fourth quarter to take a 62-59 win Saturday in the final game of the Central Bank Shootout at Rackers Fieldhouse.
Good defense leads to good offense. That was the motto for the Helias Lady Crusaders as they held the Ozark Lady Tigers to 45 points and shot 55 percent from the field to run away with a 63-45 victory Saturday in the Central Bank Shootout at Rackers Fieldhouse.
The Nixa Lady Eagles never trailed Wednesday and used a big second half to run away with a 68-47 victory against the Jefferson City Lady Jays in a state-ranked battle.
An 18-point lead had been cut to seven in a four-plus minute span at the end of the second quarter. It wasn’t the happiest of halftime talks. “The pass selection and the shot selection in that stretch was not what we wanted and that was addressed at halftime,” Jefferson City coach Kay Foster said.
