New Watauga County School Board Members Sworn In, Contracts Approved
Watauga County s new Board of Education members were sworn in Monday.
The Watauga Democrat reports Monday s meeting was held virtually, and new members Jason Cornett and Marshall Ashcraft replaced the outgoing Ron Henries and Brenda Reese, while Steve Combs was reelected to the board.
Gary Childers was unanimously elected board chairman and Steve Combs was unanimously approved as vice chairman.
According to the report, the board approved a contract for LINQ, the school system’s financial software provider that has worked with the school system for more than 20 years. The new contract will be for five years and cost $101,700, representing a lower monthly rate, saving over $11,000 over the previous contract.
