Reporter as far as tonnage of trash, it was a record. 60 tons collector more than after the phillies parade or the papal visit. One hiccup. This bus that apparently blocked the view of parade watchers at broad and chestnut. Just as the team passed by. It was apparently a police matter. That was a vehicle that was used to transport officers that needed to be mobilized so i assure you it was not the intent of philly pd to obstruct the view of anybody. Reporter the officers were mobile lied to deal with people who had climbed and broken this jumbotron at city hall. So, what is the parades price tag and how much will be paid by the eagles, how much by the taxpayers . Thats still to be determined. I was the mayor when the phillies won. I got to figure out what the arrangement was with them. But we will have we will be transparent and opened with the number as soon as we have it. Reporter so, understand the actual parade that would be the buses the confetti truck the jumbotrons the sort of h
Cam, live look over center city philadelphia, and there is definitely some problems out there. You have got slick travel. We do still have the lower lying cloud cover. We do certainly have a swat of snow that blanketed the region. But what i want to also do is take you back in time here. Lets go ahead and go back to storm scan3 looking over the last say, 12 hours or so, from this storm so we back you all the way to up yesterday afternoon. Take a look at what happens here. Youre see things sort to fizzle away in the center of the screen. You can even see up through allentown, reading how skies have even gun to clear somewhat. So, what happened was that there was a dry slot of air that started to nudge its way in. What that meant was a lot of the snow would start to evaporate as it tried to drop to the grounds and accumulate. And it is also known as an inverted trough. So essentially you have subsiding air, in other words singing air allowing that moisture to just evaporate away. And you
The first of the backtoback storms is pushing through our area right now. You can see much of the winter storm is moving out. Some of us are waking up to as much as 8 inches of snow, wet and heavy. Its mostly rain but those areas may see some snow. Good morning. Welcome back to nbc 10 news today. Its just after 6 00. We are tracking the storm and checking conditions in your neighborhood. Lets again with chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. We go from zero to 8 inches of snow across the area and just across bucks county itself 18 across the county. Theres been some heavy, wet snow, slushy now. A lot of moisture. It can be slippery even if its not icy. We have a band coming through the afternoon. And the snow that did fall is the wet, heavy variety. The dangers are generally after the fact, first with some Power Outages potentially and, second, with shoveling. Its very heavy. Dont put this much on the shovels because it causes problems. You get heart attacks in this kind of snow
Towards Lehigh Valley and reading and towards harrisburg and getty burst. Later this morning well see that thinning line move closer to philadelphia. For that now south jersey and delaware also under the heavy snow and we are piling this up and we do have snow covered roads everywhere. After about 7 or 8 oclock we think the intensity of the snow in and around 95 will probably die down. Might take later in the rush hour or later this morning for it to taper down over by the shore. But even after the snow begins to diminish a little bit you still have to give the plow trucks time to get out there and improve things. Technically we still have a winter storm warning through south jersey and delaware until noon today. The advisory is posted until noon for now as well. That may drop off a little bit sooner depending on how quickly things improve but across these counties highlighted here you have snow covered roads this morning and slow going. For the morning rush i would expect things to st
