Wearing light, loose layers because we are seeing temperatures in the 20s and 30s. 30 degrees in philadelphia. Thats where the aircraft crashed into the ground. Right near a number of homes, and a large apartment complex. The burnt wreckage of the small piper aircraft sits not 50 yards from homes and apartments. Officials say the pilot and one passenger had just taken off from braent brandywine airport. Shortly after taking off, the plane started to sputter and then basically took a nose dive and came down in the woods behind us. Reporter the ntsb will investigate the official cause of the crash. But witnesses say it sounded lilk the plane may have lost power, then stalled. Both the fight and passenger were killed on impact. Couldnt see anything. Just heard a big bang. Reporter frank lives in the apartment complex next door. Hes thankful the pilot managed to avoid homes and a large Senior Living housing complex. Yeah very close. So thank god for the pilot. But then you know the fight is and i guess his possess injury didnt make it. Which is sad. Sad to hear that the people didnt make it. Report
Nbc 10 news starts now. I heard a bang, like a big bang. A small plane comes crashing down many a Chester County neighborhood. Tonight two men are dead and the investigation into what caused that crash is just beginning. Good evening. Im george spencer. The pilot appeared to lose control of that plane just before it went down. It crashed near saunders lane in west goshen township. Thats about two miles from Brandywine Airport, where it took off. Nbc 10s Randy Gyllenhaal is live at the airport. And what are investigators saying tonight, randy . Reporter well george they confirmed two men were on board the aircraft, both of them killed. One of them lives here in Chester County. Now aircraft come in and out of Brandywine Airport every single day. This is the first time in some ten years theyve had a deadly accident in this case right after takeoff. When you live next to an airport, you get used to the sounds of takeoffs and landings. The first alert radar shows to the south warmer temperatures producing rain in delaware and in southern chester and lancaster counties. But farther north and west its cold enough for some snow and the snow is falling. The snow is not going to be accumulating with the exception of the pocano mountains, which are running colder. They could see half an inch of snow in the mountains. Steadier snow in berks and lehigh county. Pottstown in the middle 30s. Rain headed for philadelphia 39 degrees.
