Overnight. From europe. An Ethiopian Airlines jet forced to land in switzerland due to an attempting hijacking. The plane was bound for rome but ended up at the geneva airport, some 400 miles away. According to swiss police, an Ethiopian Airlines plane was forced to make an unscheduled stop. The copilot of the plane took over the controls when the pilot went to the restroom. Landed the plane, and reportedly left through the window on a rope and thats when the copilot asked for asylum in switzerland. Hes now been arrested. Hes being questioned by police. The airline said if in a statement, all of the 200 passengers and crew on board were safe. Theyve since been taken off the plane. There were no injuries. Police say the situation is under control.
