A massive fire burns through a building under construction in hayes valley, and hours later, crews are still on the scene keeping an eye on the unstable building. Firefighters had to jump on this one really quickly to keep the flames from destroying even more buildings. Good afternoon, im elizabeth cook. The flames were so intense, several nearby buildings were also impacted. The flames started just after 6 00 a. M. On octavia and oak streets, and within the hour, dozens of trucks raced to the scene. Since this building was under construction, there was no Fire Protection in place. Firefighters say a Quick Response was crucial. But its an important aspect of Police Oversight that we can say to the community, well, the police dont always need to police themselves, and we can have experts who are trained to do exactly that. Mack muir is executive director of the Community Police review agency, a job hes held for less than 30 days. His team reports to the Oakland Police commission. And late last week, he delivered some bad news about that backlog of 211 cases of possible police misconduct, 135 havent even been touched. 64 other cases have no investigators assigned.
