The Vector Control Unit in the Ministry of Health and Wellness will be moving its mosquito eradication exercise to rural parishes this week.
On Monday, May 10, the fogging team will visit the following communities in St Andrew: Hillaby Church Gap, Mose Bottom, Mount Hillaby, Turners Hall and Harewood Road and surrounding areas.
The team will return to St Andrew on Tuesday, May 11, and spray Bawdens Hill, Walkers, Babylon Road, Redman Road, Shorey Village, Douglin Village and environs.
The following day, Wednesday, May 12, fogging will continue in the St Andrew districts of Franklyn Douglin Road, Belmont Road, Worrell Road, Jordan Road, St Simon, Isolation Road, Belleplaine, Lakes Road, Farrell Road, Grecia Road, Corbin Road and surrounding areas.

The Supreme Court Complex, Whitepark Road, St Michael, including the Records Section of the Registration Department, will reopen from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 20.

Meanwhile, Magistrates’ Courts reopened today, with the exception of those sitting at Oistins, Christ Church; Holetown, St James; District ‘B’ Boarded Hall and District ‘F’ Horse Hill, St Joseph.
The Oistins Magistrates’ Court will reopen on Wednesday, April 21, while the Holetown Magistrates’ Court will sit at District D, Cane Garden, St Thomas, from today until Thursday, April 22. Only protection orders and new charge sheets will be heard there.

The paint crew of the Ministry of Transport, Works and Water Resources (MTWW) will recommence painting road markings this week. The crew will be marking the Norman Niles and JTC Roundabouts, weather permitting.
The crew will be working from Monday to Thursday from 6 pm until approximately 4 am. MTWW urges motorists to be extremely careful when traversing the work sites.
St James – Along Highway 1, Infra Construction will be paving from Molyneux to Cemetery Lane. Infra is also milling and paving the stretch of Highway 2A, between Upper Carlton to Rock Dundo. Construction of slipper and kerb is scheduled to commence shortly in Draconia Avenue.

The main objective of the IDB Road Rehabilitation and Improving Connectivity of Road Infrastructure Programme is to improve the quality of Barbados’ road infrastructure, in order to enhance tourism competitiveness.
It is expected that the operation will contribute to sustainable growth in the Barbados economy, through interventions to rationalise and improve public sector efficiency and by supporting private sector development, through greater involvement in the transport sector.
Man accused of raping teenager held until February 12

A St George man was remanded to St Ann’s Fort after appearing in court today on a charge of raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter. The prosecution alleges that the girl was left with severe anal damage.
Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes denied the accused his freedom even after the earnest mitigation of his defense attorney who reminded the court of the law’s presumption of innocence.
The 42-year-old man is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with the girl without her consent, knowing she did not consent or was reckless to whether she consented between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020.
