I shared my recollections of each school year winding down and GHS commencement exercises through the years. Surely it is time to move on from these two side streets just off memory lane. And yet, I found myself watching the students, staff, and parents of 2020-21 celebrate these classic American traditions – and I just have to share! Lisa Siegenthaler Turner, former student of mine, who also taught language arts and recently retired (Yikes! I AM old! My students are retiring!) commented: “I always found the end of the school year so bittersweet…I’m also convinced that there is no feeling of being tired like end of the school year teacher tired.” Another student from my classroom, Lori Zimmerman Black, concurred and added:

Our Bluffton Police Department has its own Facebook page and also posts regularly on the different Nextdoors in Bluffton. Our new chief is no longer “new” and really hit the ground running, looking at our policies, recruiting and also getting out in the community to meet residents and business owners. Bluffton sixth-grader dies in snowmobile accident Leiber BLUFFTON A Bluffton sixth-grader died Sunday morning after being involved in a snowmobile accident on Alpine Drive, near its intersection with Lugabill Road. At roughly 7:10 a.m. Sunday, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a single-unit snowmobile accident outside the small town. Upon arrival, Ethan Leiber, 12, was transported by Bluffton EMS to Lima Memorial Health System, where he later died. According to the sheriff’s office, he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Leiber enjoyed boating, tubing, jet-skiing, snowmobiling and golfing, according to his obituary. Private services and burial have been scheduled. There is a public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services-Bluffton.
