Almost 50 area children are attending the 91
st annual Camp Limberlost this week
at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center, which is Bloomington Kiwanis’ signature service project. The packed agenda for the day campers will focus on the outdoors, animal exploration, fire safety and many activities that typically happen at Camp Limberlost. Kiwanis members volunteer to set up, deliver food, haul duffle bags, and assist counselors with the settling in of the campers for a week of activities that teach positive social interaction.
Each summer, since 1930, Bloomington Kiwanis sends students who would benefit from a camping experience, selected by their elementary school teachers, to Camp Limberlost at East Bay Camp at Lake Bloomington. This is what the Kiwanis Club of Bloomington has been raising funds for all year long from Pancake Days, Mother’s Day Flower Sale, and other fundraisers.
Bloomington Kiwanis Motherâs Day Flower Sale is now a tradition, with this being its 12
th annual sale and largest fundraiser. The club holds this event every Motherâs Day weekend, selling thousands of flowers and plants to the community. As always, their white tents are located between Yankee Candle and Ann Taylor Loft at the Shoppes at College Hills, offering a host of annuals, herbs, vegetable garden plants, and hanging and potted plants.
This year the Motherâs Day Flower Sale fundraising event is from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 5, Thursday, May 6, Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8. The sale is closed on Sunday, Motherâs Day, in honor of our mothers.
