Beverly Hills resident Charles “Chuck” Green is a talented photographer who enjoys sharing his knowledge, talents, and works. Many in the community benefit. After retiring from his 30-year career in the Coast Guard in 1996, Green began studying photography.
“I studied with Monte Nagler. He is an award-winning local writer, lecturer and teacher of photography who studied with Ansel Adams,” Green said. “He is a magnificent photographer. He kindled a fire within me;”
Nature photography is the favorite topic for Green. National parks including Yellowstone and Yosemite, the 150 waterfalls of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, southeast Alaska, Florida, Wyoming, Arizona and sites where animals and birds may be found attract him and his cameras.
Former Troy resident takes lead at library

TROY Royal Oak Public Library’s loss is the Troy Public Library’s gain.
Newly hired Troy Public Library Director Emily Dumas, who began her role Feb. 22, said the transition was a bit of a homecoming for her. The former Royal Oak Library director decided to leave the library where she began her career in 2009 and accept an offer to lead in Troy because of the connection she has with the library, she said.
After nearly 30 years as the director of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library, Clara Bohrer recently retired. Bohrer is pictured in 2010 with former First Lady Michelle Obama and local resident Cameron Thomas-Shah after the library was one of five in the United States to be awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

Longtime West Bloomfield library director retires

WEST BLOOMFIELD Nearly 30 years ago, Clara Bohrer received a phone call to inform her that she had been hired as the director of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library.
She was so enthusiastic about the news that she “couldn’t wait to hang up from that call so I could call my husband, parents and friends, and say, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m (going to) be able to work in West Bloomfield.’”

Prior to assuming the position of the director of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library, Cathy Russ was the director of the Troy Public Library.

WEST BLOOMFIELD As someone who grew up in Troy and served as the Troy Public Library director for more than 13 years, it was going to take a pretty good opportunity for Cathy Russ to leave her position there.
Just such an opportunity came along earlier this year, when she learned that the West Bloomfield Township Public Library was searching for a new director after Clara Bohrer, who was in that position for approximately 30 years, decided to retire.
