DOVER, Del.- For the 12th consecutive season, Cape Henlopen girls lacrosse took home the DIAA girls lacrosse state title. The Vikings took down undefeated, number one ranked Tatnall 16-10.
The Vikings came out like they were ready to hoist that 12th trophy. Cape race out to a 12-3 lead at the break, leading by as many as ten in the first half. Senior Emily Monigle with two goals in the first, paired with a few from Ella Rishko and Kelly Bragg the difference for the Vikes. In the second half, the Hornets showed why they were undefeated in the regular season. Led by sophomore Kali Clayton and junior Teryn Singer, Tatnall stormed back to cut the lead to just four with ten minutes left to play in regulation and it looked like the Vikings streak may be in danger.

“Ask yourself one question: Do you feel Lucky?”
Tim Lucky, a Sanford School senior, scored three goals with one assist and won 18 of 24 face-offs in the Warriors’ thrilling 11-10 home win over “unlucky” Cape Henlopen.
The Vikings had possession with under two minutes remaining in a 10-10 game, but an errant pass turned the ball over to Sanford. Lucky scored the game-winner unassisted from way out front with just 13 seconds left in the game, and it was all over except the celebration.
