DOVER, Del.- For the 12th consecutive season, Cape Henlopen girls lacrosse took home the DIAA girls lacrosse state title. The Vikings took down undefeated, number one ranked Tatnall 16-10.
The Vikings came out like they were ready to hoist that 12th trophy. Cape race out to a 12-3 lead at the break, leading by as many as ten in the first half. Senior Emily Monigle with two goals in the first, paired with a few from Ella Rishko and Kelly Bragg the difference for the Vikes. In the second half, the Hornets showed why they were undefeated in the regular season. Led by sophomore Kali Clayton and junior Teryn Singer, Tatnall stormed back to cut the lead to just four with ten minutes left to play in regulation and it looked like the Vikings streak may be in danger.
Cape battles the elements and Sussex Academy, improves to 10-1 on the season

LEWES, Del.- With the wind whipping and the rain falling, the Cape Henlopen Vikings defeated Sussex Academy 17-10 to move to 10-1 on the year, 10-0 against in state opponents. The loss drops the Seahawks to 9-1, their first loss of the season.
Winds were gusting up to 21 miles an hour and the rain was beginning to fall as game time came around. The 9-1 Cape Henlopen Vikings were hosting Sussex Academy, who came into the afternoon as the number one ranked team in the state at 9-0 (websites4sports). The Seahawks came out firing, taking a 2-1 lead early in the first half. The rain began to slow and thats where the Vikings started to pick up steam. Cape went on a 4-1 run to take a 5-3 lead prompting a SAS timeout. Out of the timeout, the teams traded punches, the Vikings keeping a two goal lead, 8-6, and with under three minutes to play in the half, Cape exploded for three goals (two with under
