Instead of requiring homeless people to find their way to a facility on the Westside, the mobile center will park around Downtown, offering help with job applications, tracking down IDs and getting into a shelter.
Early concept renderings show two brushed-steel arches situated in Lincoln Park in Downtown Long Beach. The arches would have the names of people who died from COVID-19 etched into the inside of the arches, which could also hold a retractable covering for special events.
While city leaders have said they’re working to address the problem, they gave few specific answers on how the Downtown area could be immediately helped.
