Yeah. And you just showed that live picture of highway 50. Were going to show you how different it is over on interstate 80. You know, those are the two main ways to get up to the sierra from the bay area and interstate 80 at Donner Summit is closed. This is showing the eastbound direction. The closures on the westbound direction, and they are turning traffic around at kingsville. And thats because of a big rig that flipped over. That happened in 9 00 this morning. The chp does not expect to open this part of interstate 80 until 1 00 or later. This afternoon. Its the kind of thing the chp is worried about with this major storm now underway in the sierra , the wind coming in with this storm is a
Handle on it. 14 acres burned. No one was hurt but it was unnerving. An earlier fire put out huge plumes of thick smoke next to i80 in rodeo, not far from the philips 66 refinery. Theres a closer look at the fire burning close to the freeway. Over 100 acres burned, no structures threatened, including the refinery. More than 100 firefighters worked on that fire. Planes and helicopters dropped retardant on it, making quick work of the flames there. A lot of people told us theyve never seen a fire burning so close to where they live. We saw the black, then the traffic, then we go, were out of here. We started coming this way. Started looking, watching. Sort of interesting. We actually run a machine shop that provides parts for the refineries. What we saw it was up here we thought we better come see. If its something that hits the refinery, we could get calls. The Fire Department is investigating the cause of a twoalarm fire that destroyed a vacant home. Fire crews arrived to find the twostory house on sacramento street fully engulfed in flames just after 11 30 last night. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to control the flames. The two homes on both sides of the Burning House received minimal damage. Those families were allowed back in their homes once the fire was out. No one was injured. Some oakland residents back home this morning after friday mornings fire that destroyed an Apartment Building under construction. The fire left a crane in a dangerously unstable condition.
