BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated 3,000 Mo Seba Kendras (citizen service centres) across the state, an effort that will help bring his government closer to the public and ensure they do not have to make rounds of government offices to avail most of the services.
On the occasion of Biju Patnaik’s 105th birth anniversary, celebrated as panchayati raj and Lok Seva Diwas in Odisha, the chief minister inaugurated the centres and the OdishaOne portal, which would provide the same services online. Inaugurating the centres, Naveen said, “Biju Babu had a vision to spread the benefits of technology to every village. He always wanted the common man to benefit from science. The Mo Seba Kendra is a step in that direction.”
BHUBANESWAR: Protesting the farm laws enacted by the Centre, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee has taken a decision to hold a ‘Chasi Samabesh’ (farmer convention) at Bargarh by end of this month to show solidarity to the farmer movement.
Congress state president Niranjan Patnaik here on Saturday said he will attend the Chasi Samabesh and appeal the people to show solidarity to the farmer movement. He demanded the Centre to give legal guarantee on minimum support price (MSP) of agricultural products and stop being arrogant.
“Farmers are protesting against the Modi government, which is trying to weaken the MSP and mandi system for private interests to benefit. That s why the BJP is abusing and targeting farmers. India’s soul - ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan’ is in grave danger,” said Patnaik.

BHUBANESWAR: A youth was allegedly killed in broad daylight inside a moving vehicle in the city s posh locality Nayapalli on Saturday morning over past enmity. The attackers, who are neighbour of the deceased, are brothers.
The attackers- Sagar Prusty (32) and Sudhir Prusty (28)- were arrested by the police from the crime scene as the angry locals, who were witnessing the crime, caught them. The police PCR van, which reached the spot on getting the information, had to struggle for sometimes to get the accused duo from the clutches of the locals. The deceased was identified as Tukuna Das alias Jata (26) of Saliasahi, Nayapalli, here.

BHUBANESWAR: In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial landscape, the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS India) on Thursday signed an MoU with the state government to set up a 12 mtpa integrated steel complex in Kendrapada district with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore.
The deal was signed here in presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and executive chairman of ArcelorMittal LN Mittal. The development came two days after Mittal met Union steel minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi where discussion about the proposed project was held, sources said.

“I was taking my children and grand kids to hospital or health centres for vaccination during their childhood. Even other parents also take their children for vaccination. But time has changed during this Covid period. Now my son has persuaded me and also took me to a nearby vaccine centre for vaccination. It is a great feeling as a parent,” said Mohanty.
