New Delhi [India], May 12 (ANI): After a month of fasting, praying, and engaging in humanitarian activities such as feeding the underprivileged during the holy month of Ramzan, falls the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Ramzan is all about the breaking of the dawn-to-dusk fast. This year, Ramzan began on April 13 and ended on May 12. This annual observance is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam. It lasts between one sighting of the crescent moon and the next. It is said that Ramzan is the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad s first revelation.
The celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which comes after the holy month of Ramzan, falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal, and no fast is observed on that day.

A high-level probe has been launched in India into the smuggling of areca nuts from the neighboring countries. Also known as betel nuts, they are widely chewed across South Asia, despite the harmful health effects. The illegal areca nut trade is alleged to be thriving thanks to the patronage of politicians and government officials across many states in the country.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has swung into action following an order from the Bombay High Court, which heard a Public Interest Litigation alleging that substandard and unsafe areca nuts were being smuggled by traders in connivance with custom officials.
PRAYAGRAJ: Ankit Agarwal has been the go-to person for several generations during every wedding season as his shop in Chowk area of Prayagraj in UP had all paraphernalia needed for marriage ceremony. With Covid-19 second wave continuing its lethal run in the city and people calling off wedding plans till the pandemic subsides, the same shop is now forced to sell items used in last rites. Another nearby shop too has started selling items needed for cremation.
“The entire city is witnessing a record number of Covid cases and the old city area and areas adjoining Chowk are no exception. Although my family is in the business of wedding items, we are now selling things needed for last rites,” said Ankit. This is also to help people as there was no such shop in the area and customers had to go to different markets, he added.
The demand for wedding items has almost dropped to zero
